defending redeem mi land
I realize it has been a while since I’ve added any “news” to Redeem Mi Land… Over the last year, much of what has been happening has been behind the scenes. Regarding the land itself (Icing on a Burnt Cake project), we have been awaiting the necessary permits to actually break ground. Last Summer, following the 1st Redeem Mi Run, we submitted the necessary paperwork to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). EGLE has had quite a backlog of submissions to work through, so we went through the remainder of 2024 with only hearing crickets. It is exciting to let you know within the last week, I have finally heard back, and permits have all been approved!! That means that this is the year when digging and excavating can begin.
The other huge piece of the puzzle that is falling into place is the finishing of my doctoral work around Redeem Mi Land. Through the Fall and Winter months, I have been hard at work writing the thesis for submission. This kind of academic writing is not my strong suit, and so it has been with many cups of coffee and pulled-out hair that I have been able to complete the 100+ page paper. On April 21st (yes, the day after Easter), I will be publicly defending the thesis at Western Theological Seminary. If all goes well with my presentation and answering of questions, then I will be “Doctor Dave” and Redeem Mi Land will have some fancy academic accrediation. If you pray, please pray for me and Redeem Mi Land.
